US Highway 17 (Dixie Highway) runs north – south through the one square mile of city limits. Bowling Green is strategically located in Florida’s heartland region within 60 miles of a number of major metropolitan destinations - Orlando, Tampa, and the beaches of Sarasota and Bradenton.

Our city was incorporated in the 1920s’ when a group from Bowling Green, Kentucky relocated to Florida to find a new home. We have since maintained a southern small town ambiance where neighbors help each other, faith plays a significant role in one’s life and you can shop or dine in the same little town.

You will find that our staff is extremely friendly and helpful; our policemen are second to none ensuring citizens’ safety and well-being; we have top-ranking schools in our community; and the City’s leadership is united in effort to maintaining civic pride and self reliance.
